International Hotel Brand Awards

Open to chain-affiliated and independent hotels operating under one identity. Groups operating multiple brands should enter them individually. These categories are also open to companies who represent collections of independent hotels and market them under a common identity.

With no unifying star rating system to define hotel attributes globally the International Hotel and Resort Brand awards are segregated by market class. This is an industry categorization based upon average room rates and includes both chain-affiliated and independent hotels. An independent hotel’s market class is determined by the average daily rate, relative to that of chain-affiliated hotels in its geographic proximity.

If you are unsure of your brand’s market class positioning, full details and a table of 988 hotel chains/brands by market class is available in the News Zone.

These market classes translate into the following award categories:

A50 : Best International Midscale Hotel Brand

  • Market class: Midscale

A51 : Best International Economy Hotel Brand

  • Market class: Economy

A52 : Best All-inclusive Hotel & Resort Brand

A53 : Best European Airline

These definitions will also apply to hotel categories in the UK/Domestic Holidays and Attractions Awards:

A68 - Best UK Luxury Hotel Brand
A69 - Best UK Upscale Hotel Brand
A70 - Best UK Midscale Hotel Brand
A71 - Best UK Economy Hotel Brand

All-inclusive Hotels and Resorts

Open to chain-affiliated and independent hotels that offer all-inclusive plans either exclusively or as one of their accommodation arrangements. Qualifying hotels can also enter the market class defined categories.
